Kunz 9
1/2 Block Plane This new plane from Kunz of
Germany fills the gap between high price luxury planes and low cost
imports. All components are finely machined to close tolerances for
smooth, precise adjustment and the heavy castings give this tools
the solid heft necessary for precision work. Features include an
adjustable throat opening, unique lateral blade adjusting mechanism
and solid construction throughout. Standard 20°

The tactile
feel and light weight make wood planes irresistible to lovers of hand tools. Many
craftsmen would like to own one but have been put off by the high prices. If that
describes you, take a close look at our new wood bodied plane. This tool, made in
Holland of kiln dried Red Beech with a Hornbeam sole, will fulfill all of your
expectations for how a fine plane should perform. The nicely machined body is
attached to the sole with a corrugated joint (see picture on right) which ensures a
strong, permanent bond. All surfaces are sanded smooth and coated with protective
lacquer finish.
The
blade and chip breaker are extraordinary. Each is over 1/8" thick and their
combined stiffness eliminates all flex and chatter. The carbon steel blade will take
and hold a very keen edge. Treat yourself to this affordable, quality plane.

Wedged wooden plane blades are easy to adjust by
